Welcome to the Night Crawler Amateur Radio Club Website
The Night Crawler Amateur Radio Club is a group of amateur radio operators in northeast Mississippi that believe that amateur radio should be fun. If you're interested in amateur radio you've found the right website. To become an amateur radio operator you must get a license from the
FCC by taking a test. That brings up the question first, where do I find study information? There are several places on the net you can get free study material. One is simply by downloading a copy of the
question pool which consists of the questions that will be used to generate the test you're going to take. You can also buy a study guide from places like
MFJ. You can also practice taking the test on
qrz.com. If you can take the qrz test and make an eigthty or better you shouldn't have any trouble passing the test. Now that you've found out where to find study material and take practice test you're ready to try to get your entry level license which is the Technician class. To get the Technician license you have to take a 35 question written test on such things as rules, regulations, and safety. To upgrade to a higher license Beginning Feb 23 2007 requires No Morse Code and more written elements. Well, now that you're ready to take the test, you will have to find a VE test session in your area. The cost for taking the test will run anywhere from free to $14.00. The Night Crawler Amateur Radio Club sponsors
free test administered by VEs under the
LARC VEC in the northeast Mississippi area. Also, there are several other VECs operating in the northeast Mississipi area. You can contact the local LARC VE team leader by e-mailing
Danny Ozbirn, WB5DO, or giving him a call (662) 462-7666.
